| February 17, 2009 |

Taiwan's Compal Electronics, the world's second-largest contract laptop PC maker, plans to start production in Vietnam in the first quarter of 2009.
Monthly output is expected at 1.2 million units; the annual production, all for exports, would be in total 15 million units, said Compal Chair Rock Hsu.
Compal has said that by 2013 it aimed to make half of its computers at its US$500 million plant in Vietnam's northern province of Vinh Phuc, adjacent to the capital Hanoi.
